What is the difference between CELPIP General and CELPIP General LS?▼
CELPIP General tests all four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. It is accepted for Canadian permanent residency and citizenship. CELPIP General LS (Listening & Speaking) tests only Listening and Speaking, and is used for specific immigration streams that only require those two skills.
What CLB level do I need for Canadian permanent residency?▼
Most Express Entry programmes require a minimum CLB 7 in all four skills. Some provincial nominee programmes require CLB 4–6. A higher CLB score earns more Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
How is the CELPIP score different from IELTS?▼
CELPIP reports scores on the CLB (Canadian Language Benchmarks) scale from 1 to 12. IELTS reports a band score from 1 to 9. CLB 7 is roughly equivalent to IELTS Band 6.0. CELPIP is conducted entirely on a computer.
